Welcome to Mrs. Kaiafas' ESL Class!
I have been teaching ESL classes for as long as I can remember. Over the years my students ranged from Kindergarten to adults. Middle school students are indeed my favorite ones.
I am looking forward to another safe, happy, and productive school year. I am excited to be working with my intermediate school friends in their English Language Arts classrooms and in my English for Multilingual Learners' class.
This year, like last year, we will be working on the Robotel Smart Class platform. Each chapter is based on a thematic unit, with vocabulary, grammar lessons, as well as speaking, listening, reading, and writing activities. The students really enjoy completing these computerized activities and of course recording themselves for the speaking activities. Closer to the WIDA ACCESS Testing, beginning of February, we will pivot to another program, Finish Line for ELLs 2.0 English Proficiency Practice, in order to familiarize the students with the ACCESS requirements.
Extra Help Day: Thurday afternoons, WIS, Room 217
Grading:
- 40% Major Assessments
- 40% Minor Assessments
- 20% Classroom Participation/Assignments
All grades will be posted at Genesis Parent Portal
