Course Overview

This unit will address the natural rights of man, authority, democratic means of conflict resolution, the common good, the virtues of civics, American ideals, and the election process.

This unit will address the historical foundations of the American Republic, Federalism, the three branches of government, the amendment process and the Bill of Rights will be analyzed.

This unit will focus on what is considered to be the American ideal, justice and fairness, equality, the Constitution and human rights including: freedom of speech, assemble, right to petition, freedom of religion, and how the Constitution relates to human rights.

This unit will analyze the rights and responsibilities of citizenship, roles of local and state government, public policy, and demonstrate an understanding of what it means to be an active citizen.
