Course Description

This course will cover the 6th grade NJSLA English Language Arts standards, including reading, writing, grammar, punctuation and vocabulary. Comprehension and appreciation of various literature types are taught through the study of fiction and nonfiction texts. Students will also develop skills in narrative, research-based information, literary analysis, and argumentative writing styles.

In ELA 6, students will be assigned books; selecting from a list of books to read during book clubs; AND engaging in independent reading. Independent reading affords students the opportunity to read books of THEIR choosing.

This means that a well-stocked class library is a critical resource in an ELA classroom. 

If you are interested in helping to build Mrs. Pine's ELA 6 classroom library -- in providing your child, their peers, and future students with access to as many high-interest, age-appropriate books as possible -- I would be extremely grateful for your support!
